Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
The Certified Risk Manager (CRM) program was established to offer an in-depth, practical approach to risk management education. The CRM program includes Principles of Risk Management, Analysis of Risk, Control of Risk, Financing of Risk, and Practice of Risk Management. Each course consists of 2 1/2 days of intensive classroom instruction followed by an (optional) examination. Achieving the designation requires the successful completion of the examinations of all five CRM courses within a period of five years. Retaining the CRM designation requires the fulfillment of an annual continuing education requirement. Participants must attend the entire 2 1/2 day course to qualify for CE credit.   Please call 800/633-2165 for CEs granted by your state. CEs are subject to change without notice.

CRM courses will be offered across the United States throughout the calendar year.  For the remainder of 2008, CRM Principles of Risk Management and CRM Analysis of Risk will be offered in our region.  In 2009, CRM Principles of Risk Management, CRM Analysis of Risk and CRM Financing of Risk will be offered.

CRM Principles of Risk Management
We recommend you take this course first because it lays a solid foundation in risk management essentials, such as your function and role within the organization, the "cost of risk" model, and gives you the tools for identifying exposures - the first step in the risk management process. It also provides the background to ensure your success in the courses that follow.

Topics that will be covered are: Risk Management Process and Function, Risk Identification: Logical Classifications, Risk Identification: Methods, Gathering Loss Data, Risk Management Ethics, Financial Concepts for Risk Management, Risk-Taking Nature and Ability and Two Case Studies.

CRM Analysis of Risk
You'll acquire rock-solid expertise in the analysis and measurement of exposures and loss data that is fundamental to risk management. We recommend that you take Analysis of Risk before embarking on the Financing of Risk course, in order to build on your growing knowledge in the most effective possible way.

Topics that will be covered are: Introduction to Analyzing Risk, Qualitative Analysis, Quantitative Analysis: Tools, Quantitative Analysis: Forecasting, Cash Discounting Concepts, Risk Analysis Applications (I) and Risk Analysis Applications (II).

CRM Financing of Risk
Financing of risk can be an intricate and complex task. In this course, you will compare the various financing options presented: non-insurance transfer, guaranteed cost plans, retro plans, dividend plans, pools, and various types of captives. You will learn how to deliver the message to management in present value dollars. We recommend that this course follow Analysis of Risk.

Topics that will be covered are: Introduction to Financing Risk, Quantitative Analysis: Tools and Methods, Simple Transfer Options, Loss-Sensitive Transfer Options, Alternative Transfer Options, Actuarial, Accounting, and Auditing Perspectives and a Case Study.
