Erin C. Deveney was appointed Registrar of Motor Vehicles in December of 2015 by Governor Charlie Baker. Registrar Deveney is overseeing the transformation of the RMV into a customer-centric organization, including the replacement of a 30-year old mainframe system with a commercial web-based solution. The new system is being implemented in a two-phased approach – the first phase, focusing on driver licensing, was introduced in March, 2018; the RMV is currently working on phase two, vehicle services, which is scheduled to launch on November 12, 2019.
Prior to her appointment as Registrar, she served as Interim Commissioner/Deputy Commissioner for Central Office Operations of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, where she managed a series of organizational reforms designed to improve service delivery.
Registrar Deveney formerly held positions as Chief of Staff, Deputy Registrar for Policy and Planning, and General Counsel at the RMV.
An attorney, Erin has 20 years of public service management experience as well as expertise in legislative and municipal government. She is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Suffolk Law School.
