Budget Amendment 41 Adopted

05/24/2017

Thank you for taking action. With just under 400 action emails that reached every Senator urging them to protect consumers, Budget Amendment 41, that addresses the property damage liability threshold limits for when someone can be surcharged for an at-fault accident, was adopted in the Senate's version of the State Budget on a 37 - 0 roll call vote.

If this amendment ultimately becomes law, it would prohibit insurance companies from surcharging individuals for accidents where the property damage is under the $1,001 limit for a minor accident. The law is amended so it applies to all insurance companies, even those that file their own safe driver insurance plans.
